About FUMSDRL

Spiritual Directors and Retreat Leaders.
HISTORY
In 2003, as an emerging ministry of The Upper Room, a steering committee for the Fellowship of United Methodist Spiritual Directors and Retreat Leaders was organized and an e-mail newsletter developed. A rhythm emerged of two networking gatherings for face-to-face connection at Spiritual Directors International in April and SoulFeast in July.
In August, 2009, FUMSDRL became a self-supporting affiliate organization of GBOD (The General Board of Discipleship) under the Division of the Upper Room. We continue to have a meaningful and mutually beneficial collaboration with both groups!
PURPOSE
The focus of the FUMSDRL ministry is networking and information sharing. This Web-based ministry seeks to connect folks in spiritual formation ministries and retreat leadership for support, coaching, and training. The ever expanding "Links" page of this website encourages direct contact and communication between practicing formational leaders.
CONNECTION
The National e-newsletter is sent directly to your inbox six times a year. The purpose of this newsletter is to encourage and support a wide audience within the connection for formational-based training, and best practices in ministry. The Members' Only e-newsletter is sent to paid members of FUMSDRL. This provides members' profile information for getting your name "out there" for marketing the ministry you service, provides opportunity to write for the national newsletter, and gives the most up to date information on the UM connection in spiritual formation ministries.
